In the world of music, the unexpected can lead to extraordinary results. Artists are constantly pushing boundaries, challenging beliefs about what music is and what it can be. At the forefront of this avant-garde exploration is Ryosuke Kiyasu, a Japanese musician who has developed a unique niche for himself through his solo snare drum concerts. His recent world tours are testament to this unconventional approach.
Kiyasu may be best known as the drummer for various bands such as Fushitsusha, Sete Star Sept, Kiyasu Orchestra and The Endless Blockade, a Toronto-based powerviolence band that broke up twelve years ago. In recent years, he has taken up an experimental solo venture that is attracting attention. Armed only with a snare drum and a few drumsticks, he wins the hearts of audiences through performances that explore the full spectrum of sonic possibilities that a single instrument can offer.
